A traditional store offering handmade Venetian carnival masks, as well as mask-making workshops.

Ca' Macana created the masks seen in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut".

I planned, directed and filmed this project independently, as part of my final university project.

​

I have always been passionate about Venetian art and history, which sparked inspiration for this project and pushed me to reach out to my favourite mask shops.

​

Ca' Macana were my first choice, as I had purchased my first ever mask there as a child and had heard so many wonderful things about them. Luckily for me, they responded within a few days and were happy for me to join their team for a week.

​

And what a wonderful week it was!

I wanted to explore the incredible history of Venetian masks, whilst allowing viewers to "meet" the man behind the masks: Mario.

​

This video aims to celebrate the magical artistry of Ca’ Macana, whilst exploring the story behind it all.
